The Warrior Prays

For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.

Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.

Moral Failure According To Obama and McCain

At the Saddleback Church Civil Forum on the Presidency, Pastor Rick Warren asked the same questions of Barack Obama and John McCain. One of those questions was, "What is the greatest moral failure of America?"

Obama's response:

"I think America's greatest moral failure in my lifetime has been that we ... still don't abide by that ... basic precept in Matthew that whatever you do for the least of my brothers, you do for me...I mean, there's a pervasive sense, I think, that this country, as wealthy and powerful as we are, still don't spend enough time thinking about the least of these."

McCain's response:

"I think America’s greatest moral failure has been, throughout our existence, perhaps we have not devoted ourselves to causes greater than our self-interest;..."

This is America's greatest moral failure!------------>

Righteousness exalts a nation,
But sin is a disgrace to any people.

Rick Warren Interviews Obama and McCain, A Great Service to Society

Yesterday, August 16, Rick Warren, pastor of Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, California, interviewed candidates Barack Obama and John McCain separately in its "civil forum," a Church ministry. The civil forum had a national audience as radio and television aired the two hours of the interview, the first hour with Obama, and the second hour with McCain. Both candidates were asked identical questions. A coin toss determined who would go first on the interview while the other was sequestered in a room so that he couldn't hear the questions.

Warren's interview format surpasses that of previous adversarial debates. It was enlightening to see the vastly different responses the candidates gave to the questions. It gave good insights into each candidate's ideology, passion or lack of it, character, and priorities. The Saddleback Church's civil forum has done the nation a great service.

"You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt has become tasteless, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled under foot by men. You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house."

Russia Invades the Republic of Georgia. Which Country Is Next?

It's happening again. While the world is focused on Beijing, watching the Olympics, Russia has invaded the Republic of Georgia. This unfolds Russia's plan of reviving the fallen Soviet empire. Best-selling author Joel Rosenberg has the following illuminating insights:

"Some sobering lessons have been learned this week from the Georgia disaster. Among them:

"1. Putin is a new Russian Czar who wants to rebuild the Russian empire and will use force to get his way.

"2. Neither the U.S. nor NATO are willing to be firm in Europe in defending a key ally against violent aggression. No one wants a war with Russia. But we have to do better than this. Such impotence in the face of Russian imperialism bodes ill for Ukraine, Poland, Armenia, Azerbaijan and other Western allies increasingly being intimidated by the Kremlin.

"3. Based on events this week, Israel should be wary about accepting American or European security guarantees in any future peace deal with her neighbors.

"4. A Russian attack on a democratic ally can happen fast, and almost without warning. This has prophetic implications, when you think about the prophecies of Ezekiel 38-39 and a "last days" war by Russia, Iran and a Mideast alliance against Israel.

"5. Russia and Iran want to control the production and flow oil and natural gas in the Caucases. Both want to dominate energy supplies in Turkey."

Lamont and Wright "Theology" Applied to Abortion

Dr. Marc Lamont Hill, an Assistant Professor of Urban Education and American Studies at Temple University, is a supporter of Barack Obama. He was interviewed last night, August 13, by Bill O'Reiley at the Fox News Channel. During the interview, Hill made the audacious assertion that Jesus would be O.K. with abortion. To make matters worse, Hill added that Jesus's position on abortion would be even "more radical" than Barack Obama's!

The supposedly learned excuse for such a brazen but mistaken assertion, is that it comes from a certain "theological understanding." Hill stated in the interview that, "There are different schools of theological understanding, many of which believe that the Bible is not something that should be read fundamentally..."

This "school of theological understanding" must be one with that of Jeremiah Wright, Obama's pastor who "introduced Obama to Christ" and who called down curses on America based on his "theology of liberation." Jeremiah Wright, Lamont Hill, and others of this school are supposedly the Doctors and Theologians who have a certain understanding of the Bible contrary to centuries of Christian tradition. They call themselves "progressive."

Wright and Lamont should write "The Politically Correct Bible."

"For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. No wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. Therefore it is not surprising if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness, whose end will be according to their deeds."

More Valuable than Rocks

Darwin's evolutionary hypotheses suggests that all life spontaneously generated from a pre-biotic "soup" of basic chemicals. It rained on rocks for millions and millions of years and basic elements in the rocks leached into the water. Chance lighting strikes caused the chemicals to combine at random to form the first organic molecules from which the complex cell evolved by natural selection and random mutation.

Scientific discoveries have shown that the cell, the building block of all life, is so irreducibly complex, requiring several processes to be active all at once in order to be viable at all, not even mentioning the extremely complex arrangement of proteins in the cell's DNA. Darwin's theory of origins is woefully inadequate to account for the extreme complexity of the cell. It borders on ridiculous, considering that the chances of the complex combination of chemicals coming together by chance, no matter how much time you allow, is practically zero.

Nevertheless, the Darwinian theory holds sway over the creative energies and imagination of scientists the world over. Does the notion that human ancestry ultimately traces back to rocks bother them? Why should we be so concerned about human dignity if we are no more than a complex combination of chemicals which came from rocks by chance? Perhaps some of Darwin's adherents are concerned. ICR reports that in Germany, scientists have prepared a research that suggests that diamonds in the pre-biotic "soup" may have sparked the first living cell. Perhaps we should take comfort in the thought that humans are more valuable than rocks after all. We can trace human origins to diamonds, pure carbon! Pure bull!

"As the thief is shamed when he is discovered,
So the house of Israel is shamed;
They, their kings, their princes
And their priests and their prophets,
Who say to a tree, 'You are my father,'
And to a stone, 'You gave me birth.'

Jeremiah 2:26-27
