Taking a Stand or Standing Down?
America" show:

Union: "Did the Democrats stand during the applause when President Bush
mentioned the need for Social Security reform?"
Response: "The Democrats don't stand for anything."

Clever turn of words, but untrue. Many Democrats and other people stand for protecting our seniors, grandparents and friends from poverty after a lifetime of working. That is what Social Security is for, ensuring dignity in old age. Others may believe that some old people who have worked all their lives should be allowed to drop through the cracks for various reasons. Democrats will be happy to make changes as long as the changes do not risk letting seniors starve or be driven into homelessness or become forgotten. So, please at least be accurate about what others say and do.
Who ever mentioned about starving seniors and driving them into homelessness? This reminds me of the budget battles during Clinton when the Democrats said that the Republicans will starve the school children of their school lunches.
