Desacralizing the Sacred

When Mel Gibson produced "The Passion," faithfully adhering to the gospel accounts of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, the liberal press decried the millions of dollars in profit that Mel Gibson made, denouncing him for exploiting the evangelical faith.

Now, when Dan Brown creates "The DaVinci Code," a fiction based on the life of Jesus, spinning a lurid tale involving Jesus and Mary Magdalene, and props up his work with gnostic heresy, The New York Times calls his work,
"Blockbuster perfection. An exhilaratingly brainy thriller.
Not since the advent of Harry Potter has an author so flagrantly delighted in leading readers on a breathless chase and coaxing them through hoops."
--Janet Maslin
THE NEW YORK TIMES
There is no outcry from the liberal press for Dan Brown's exploitation of the New Testament for profit. At least "The Passion" was sensitive to the truth and to the faith of evangelical believers. Dan Brown's fiction flagrantly tramples on the faith held sacred by millions of believers worldwide. "The DaVinci Code" is based on ancient sources that have already been discredited in their time as falsehoods, such as the gospel of Thomas, and other gnostic writings. The liberal press praises Dan Brown for exploiting those works at the expense of the established truths of the New Testament.

Dan Brown is just an appendage in the worldwide secular movement against the Christian faith and against everything sacred. This explains his novel's success as a bestseller, and soon as a movie. The New York Times used Dan Brown's work to effectively reduce the great Christian faith down to a Harry Potter movie.

Nothing is sacred to these barbarians. The only thing close to being sacred to them is their right to trample on Jesus' name and reputation and bash His followers.
